The 90-day Appeals and Protests Period
On June 18, 2007 the maps and models created by the Tropical Storm Allison Recovery Project became the FEMA Effective Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and models.  This completes the Tropical Storm Allison Recovery Project.  All insurance rates and permitting requirements are now based on the new maps.  You can view the maps by using the Interactive Mapping Tool.

Any one of the 143 FEMA Effective FIRM Panels that cover Harris County can be downloaded from the products page.  The maps can also be viewed and ordered from the FEMA Map Service Center at http://msc.fema.gov.  The official FEMA computer models can be ordered through the Model and Map Management System (M3) which is located at www.hcfcd.org/m3.

On June 18th 2007 all Elevation Certificates, based on the current FIRMs, became null and void because of new elevation data and the effects of subsidence. More information is available on the Elevation Certificates page.

Five public information fairs were held throughout Harris County to provide residents another opportunity to view the Preliminary FIRMs and ask questions when they were originally released in 2004.
